Muryl June Ohms (nee Williams), 90, passed away Thursday (Sept. 5, 2024) in Chrisman.
She was born on June 6, 1943, in Villa Grove, to Arnom and Hazel Williams. She lived a vibrant and fulfilling life marked by her devotion to her community and her love for the arts.
Muryl was a cherished member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Urbana, where she found great solace and companionship. Her spiritual life was an important aspect of her overall well-being and remained a constant through her many years. She was renowned for her skills in teaching ceramics and quilting, hobbies that not only brought joy to Muryl but also to those around her. Her workshops were a popular fixture in the community, where she shared her knowledge and passion with many eager learners.
Muryl is survived by her twin sister, Buryl Williams; children, Kenneth Meade, Cynthia Meade (Mike) Alexander and Shelley Meade (Mike) Cross; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, brother and grandson.
Muryl’s legacy will live on not only through her family but also through the many lives she touched with her art and unwavering faith. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Private family services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Urbana.
