Magaly Savvas passed away Friday, November 15 in her longtime family home with her two youngest daughters, Alex and Melanie, at her side when took her last breaths and also were both there taking care of her 24/7 during the last year of her life.
The last year of her life was a struggle after she lost her husband, Dr. George Savvas, in November of 2023 and she quickly declined following his loss after 49 years of marriage. Despite her grief and stress from his passing she had many moments of joy and humor from her two daughters and especially her two grandchildren who were her entire being and always brought her such joy and entertainment.
Magaly, or Maggie to her American friends, was born and raised in Cuba. She was the 2nd daughter of Dr. Fernando and Arjelia Toledo and she was always proud of her Cuban heritage and citizenship in the United States.
Magaly was a devoted Catholic and she received last rights from Holy Cross Msgr. Brian Brownsey, who responded immediately to the daughter’s request. She spent many of her years volunteering her time at Holy Cross School during her childrens attenance and brought so much joy to many of the students and faculty during her time there.
Her two daughters would like to thank Transitions Hospice and three amazing nurses who were so kind, gentle and supportive during that last week with her.
The family requests privacy as they mourn the loss of both their parents/grandparents in less than a year.
