Rose Margaret Combs Tull

Rose Margaret Combs Tull, of Champaign, formerly of Hoopeston, Ill., passed away at 1:16 p.m., July 24, 2019, at Champaign Rehab Center.

tullShe was born October 21,1930, in Hoopeston, Illinois to Eva (Absher) Combs and M. Brook Combs. She joined her older brother Raymond, who was born in 1926.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, September 26, at Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall, 2602 W. Bloomington Rd., Champaign. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, September 27, at Floral Hill Cemetery, 301 W. Main, in Hoopston.

Rose attended Hoopeston schools and graduated from John Greer High School in 1948.

She was gifted in music and played the piano. She was also gifted in art and attended the University of Kansas for graphic design.

She had many interests and graduated from Brown’s Business College in Peoria, Illinois. She then lived in Chicago and worked for Sears, Roebuck, and Co.

She enjoyed having friends and family visit and would take them to her favorite places in the city, like Buckingham Fountain. 

She met Earl Tull and they married in 1965.They travelled the United States until Earl succumbed to Emphysema in 1974. From then until her passing on July 24 of this year, she lived in Champaign, Illinois.

Rose had many friends, especially those at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She loved to visit with friends and family, and read and discuss Bible stories.

She also enjoyed bird watching, and spring flowers, especially lilacs and tulips. She loved to watch classic movies, as did her brother, and they both spent their childhoods in Hoopeston going to the Saturday Matinees at the Lorraine Theatre. Her favorite actor and actress were Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.

Rose was a light of kindness and love to all who knew her, especially her nieces and their families. They are Linda Combs Reynolds and Dave Reynolds of Green Bay, Wisconsin, and their children Marcus Reynolds of Lawrence, Kansas and Shannon Reynolds of Spokane, Washington. Ella (Pamela) Combs-Larmann and Ralph Larmann of Newburgh, Indiana, and their children Allison Larmann of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Tip (Ralph III) Larmann of Chicago.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents and brother.
