Kathy spent most of her life with her family in California; and Kathy's family was extended because she welcomed so many people into her life. She began her career with AT&T as an operator, worked her way up, and retired in 1993. After retiring, Kathy enjoyed traveling across country with her partner Bob Wittig, making friends and spreading joy every place they visited. In 2004, Kathy and Bob settled in Bob's hometown, Danville, Ill.

Kathy spent her life giving to others. She was a dedicated volunteer for several community groups and organizations including the Danville ham radio club, Red Cross, Illiana Stroke Survivors & Caregivers, Vermilion County EMA, Middle Fork Chapter Audubon Society, and Family Motor Coach Association.
Kathy is survived by her beloved partner "Cowboy Bob" Wittig, sister Patricia Hulseman, son Michael Ferrari; and by Bob's father Robert Wittig, and sister and brother-in-law. Her extended family included Bob's five children, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, her nephew Edward Hulseman, and her six Tucker step-children and five grandchildren.
