Glenn A. Thomas

A service celebrating the life of Glenn A. Thomas, 80, of Tolono, will be held at thomas6:30 p.m., Friday, December 1, 2017, at Heath and Vaughn Funeral Home, 201 N. Elm, Champaign. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until service time.

Mr. Thomas passed away at 3:57 a.m., Nov. 24, 2017, at the Champaign Urbana Nursing and Rehab Center in Savoy.

He was born July 27, 1937, in East Sparta, Ohio, a son of Wilbur and Ella (Edie) Thomas. They preceded him in death.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Linda Thomas; a son, Todd Thomas; two sisters, Janet Richeson and Sylvia Ruffner, and a brother, David Thomas.

Mr. Thomas is survived by two sons: Michael A. Thomas and Timothy S. (Nora) Thomas, all of Tolono; five grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and sixteen step-great-grandchildren.

He enjoyed reading and was an avid Bears and Illini sports fan, as well as a NASCAR fan. He was the founder of the StoneCold Motor Cycle Club, which is involved in many charitable events such as Toys for Tots and holding benefits to support families in his community. He was a member of Jaycees and Kiwanis. He served as president of the Fairview Sportsman Club for 12 years.

Mr. Thomas was a surrogate father/grandfather over the years to many kids and adults. They were welcomed to the Thomas home like family. Many in the community referred to him as Dad, Papa, and Grandpa.
