Carleen Manning Simons
Celebration of Life memorial services for Carleen Manning Simons, 62, of Champaign, will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, at DeLand American Legion Post 102, DeLand.
Pastor David Ashby will officiate.
Heath and Vaughn Funeral Home, 201 N. Elm, Champaign, is assisting with arrangements.
Mrs. Simons passed away at 10:14 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, at Carle Hospital, Urbana.
She was born Dec. 8, 1950, in DeLand, a daughter of Clifton and Eileen (Thorne) Manning.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mary Stachurski.
She married Kent Simons on May 6, 1995, in Bondville. He survives.
Also surviving are a son, Robert (Kelli) Manning, of Tuscola; five sisters, Kathy Brooks and Terri (Dave) Summers, of Farmer City; Rhonda (Albert) Stachurski, of Bloomington; Linda (Jeff) Dickerson, of Orlando, Fla., and Elizabeth (Steve) Welland, of Champaign; eight brothers, Dick (Janet) Manning, of Monticello, Jim (Glenda) Manning, Randy Manning, and David Manning, all of Champaign, Robert (Patricia) Manning, of Burlington, Wis., Daniel Manning, of Orlando, Fla., Michael (Kelly) Manning, of Mooresville, N.C., and Charles “Marty” Manning, of Mansfield; and two grandsons, Reed and Dane Manning, of Tuscola.
Mrs. Simons had been employed by Eisner Bakery, Colwell Printing Co., and Plastipak Packaging.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles, Illini basketball, crocheting, and cross-stitch. She was a proud supporter of U.S. Armed Forces.
