Ruth Marie Schneider Sieving
Ruth Marie Schneider Sieving passed into the warm embrace of Jesus Christ on April 26, 2014 in Urbana, Illinois.
She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on July 17, 1928 with her maternal twin sister Ruby Mae Schneider Bovik who, along with Ruth and Ruby’s parents, the Reverend Arthur J. Schneider and Dora E. Schneider, preceded Ruth to heaven.
Left behind to cherish her memory is her daughter Kathryn E. Sieving and her husband J. David Pais; two sons, Paul F. Sieving and David L. Sieving; and two nephews Alan C. Bovik and his wife Golda Sahayam and Erick A. Bovik and his wife Dawn Meredith.
Ruth earned a bachelor's degree in Anthropology and Sociology from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 1951, where she resided in Busey Hall and worked at the public radio station (WILL). Subsequently, Ruth served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and married Kenneth William Sieving, with whom she raised her 3 children. Later in life, Ruth returned to Urbana – where she lived happily for nearly 30 years in service to her beloved community.
Ruth’s family conveys their undying gratitude to the staff of the Champaign County Nursing Home (Unit 1), where Ruth lived in caring comfort the last 2 years of her life and to Harbor Lights Hospice staff for their loving ministrations.
