Celebration of Life services for Carl Miller, 87, of Mahomet will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at Heath and Vaughn Funeral Home, 201 N. Elm, Champaign. The Rev. Kris Light will officiate.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign. Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by Champaign VFW Post 5520 Color Guard.
Mr. Miller passed away at 6:10 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
He was born June 9, 1926, in Illiopolis, Ill., a son of Herbert and Helen (Roberts) Miller. They preceded him in death.
A sister, two brothers, and a son, Douglas Miller, also preceded him in death.
Mr. Miller is survived by a daughter, Lola Burton, of Philo; two sons, Jay Miller, of Lane, Ill., and Christopher Miller, of Apollo Beach, Fla.; a sister, Barbara Rudd, of Roanoke, Virginia; and grandchildren: Zachary Miller, of Mahomet, Lindsey Miller, of Rantoul; Tyler Burton and Colin Burton, both of Champaign; two step-grandchildren: Alicia Symonds, of Berrien Springs, Mich., and Trace Moore, of Apollo Beach, Fla.
Mr. Miller served his country in the Navy during World War II. Before his retirement he was a Master Plumber.
He was a member of the VFW, the Moose, and University Place Christian Church.
He enjoyed boating (herding ducks), driving, fishing, Harley-Davidson, and bowling. He was a football fan.
