Linda Kay Jenkins
Linda Kay Jenkins of Champaign, Ill., passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017. She was 70 years old.
Linda was born to Helen Hurt Turner and Maurice Philip Jenkins on November 6, 1946. They are both deceased.
She is survived by her son Gregory (Kim) Keith Brown and three grandchildren (Ashton, Madison, and Chloe) who live in Broomfield, Colorado. Surviving are her two siblings, Sandra (Ron) Sue Swallow of Macungie, Pennsylvania, and Raymond (Jackie) E. Jenkins of Tolono, Illinois. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Linda graduated from Urbana High School in 1964. She was Tri-High Queen. She served as treasurer of the Tiger’s Den. She attended Southern Illinois University.
Linda worked at the Kraft Plant in Champaign, before moving to Broomfield, Colorado. She also lived in Florida.
Upon her return to the Champaign area, she worked in several departments at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she retired.
She loved to garden. She entered and won two chili contests in the area. One of her favorite chili cook-offs was at Mark Hurt’s house in Tolono, Illinois.
