Julie was diagnosed with a very aggressive, inoperable, and terminal brain cancer in early February of this year of which she deteriorated quickly due to its affects. While she turned 50 on May 31st of this year, Julie was no longer in an oriented state where she could comprehend or appreciate this accomplishment. In her eyes, she will forever be 49.
Julie owned and operated Lo-Down Dirty Dog Grooming of Mahomet since 1996 where she thrived doing what she loved best; working with animals. Her customers will attest to her genuine, caring, and nurturing personality. Julie’s love for animals started at a very early age where she would often be found rescuing domestic and wild animals of all kinds or spending time at her aunt’s farm playing with all the cats in the barn. Julie began volunteering at the Champaign County Humane Society at age 12 and continued her passion into adulthood working at local Veterinary Clinics. Julie’s niece, Katy Hamilton, of whom has worked with Julie for many years, is managing the grooming business to ensure clients and their beloved pets continue to receive the care they've grown accustomed to over the 20 years Julie has been in business.
On behalf of Julie, her family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all the friends and family who have expressed their well wishes, prayers and donations including the food chain during this time of transition. We know that many have suffered through similar fates and we appreciate the easing of such a burden through your kindness.
