Linda Lou Dayton
A gathering to celebrate the life of Linda Lou Dayton, 73, of Urbana will be from 6-8 p.m., Friday, June 19, 2015, at Heath and Vaughn Funeral Home, 201 N. Elm, Champaign.
Mrs. Dayton passed away at 1:15 p.m., Monday, June 15, at Presence Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.
She was born October 24, 1941, in Ludlow, Ill., a daughter of Robert and Lucy Venus (Rogers) Gibson.
She is survived by a son, Robert Derr, Jr., of Thomasboro; three daughters, Dannette Macal, of Tolono, Dawn Avirom, of Tallahassee, Fla., and Darla Randall, of Green Coast Springs, Fla.; and two sisters, Betty Martin, of Mahomet and Janet Harper, of Hutchinson, Kansas; and one step-sister Bernice King, of Madison, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her step-father, Walter McClain; one daughter, and two brothers.
Before her retirement she was employed by Cameron’s Catering.
Mrs. Dayton was a member of the American Legion Post 71 Auxiliary in Urbana. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, reading, and gardening.
