Jerry L. Brinkerhoff

Graveside services for Jerry L. Brinkerhoff, 76, of Champaign, will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018, at Embarrass Cemetery, near Redmon.

The Pastor Jerry Nichols will officiate.

brinkerhoffVisitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m., Monday, Oct. 22, 2018, at Heath and Vaughn Funeral Home, 201 N. Elm, Champaign.

Mr. Brinkerhoff died at 11:44 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018 at Carle Hospital, Urbana.

He was born Dec. 19, 1941, in Macomb, Ill., a son of Lee A. and Dorothy (Jones) Brinkerhoff. They preceded him in death.

Jerry married his high school sweetheart, Marian Gill, on Sept. 4, 1960, in Redmon, Illinois. She survives.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Faul, and a brother, Curtis A. Brinkerhoff.

Other survivors include a son, Brian J Brinkerhoff, of Urbana; a son-in-law, Jonathon C. Faul, of Urbana; two sisters, Susan McNattin, of Champaign, and Sara Brinkerhoff, of Maryland; a brother, Tom Brinkerhoff, of Brownsburg, Ind.; and a granddaughter, Sky (Kyla) Kraus Gavin, of Peoria Hts., Ill.

At a young age, Jerry and his family moved to Redmon, Ill., where he attended the Redmon Grade School, then Brocton High School, from which he graduated in 1959. He then attended the University of Illinois and remained a life-long resident of Champaign-Urbana.

Mr. Brinkerhoff worked as an assistant of the head accountant of WCIA for ten years. In 1972 Mr. Brinkerhoff opened Commercial Services Company, a business and tax accounting service specializing in small companies, from which he retired in 2014.

Jerry enjoyed going to casinos, playing poker, and dining out with family and friends. He had a passion for barbecued ribs and NBA basketball. He loved life and told others frequently how much he loved his wife and how lucky a person he had been.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to the Mills Breast Cancer Institute, Urbana, Ill.

I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of Jerry. He was a kind, funny, compassionate man who immediately accepted me when I dated his son. He loved his children and his wife with every fiber of his being. Please accept my heartfelt condolences and know that I have all of you in my thoughts.
