Dorothy A. Vinton
Dorothy A. (Pud) Vinton, 81, of Champaign, passed away at 5:39 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015, at home.
She was born Oct. 27, 1934, in Philadelphia, Pa., a daughter of Crandall and Roberta (Doisy) Rosecrans.
She married Allan Vinton on Aug. 24, 1958, in Champaign. He survives.
Also surviving are three daughters: Ann Jumonville, of Kankakee, Jane Vinton, of Bloomington, Ill., and Ruth Miller, of Urbana; two sons: Paul Vinton, of Decatur and John Vinton, of Champaign; one sister: Roberta Coffin, of Middlebury, Vt.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Dorothy received a bachelor’s degree in dietetics and was employed by Mercy Hospital in Urbana as a dietician. Before her retirement she was also employed by the Lincoln Trail Library and the U of I Biology Library.
She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Champaign.
Services will be held at a later date. Heath and Vaughn Funeral Home, 201 N. Elm, Champaign, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be offered to an organization of the donor’s choice. Dorothy also requested that family and friends “Give a kind deed or word to anyone you meet.”
