Hurne2Apart from her husband Don of 55 years, Anne was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Barbara Burry; brothers John, Alfred and Joseph Fox; and sisters Jessie Otto, Susan Asbury and Ruth (George surviving) Doyle.

Anne was employed as a typist for Curtiss-Wright Corporation (1942-1947) and held bookkeeper and secretarial positions between 1945 and 1950 when Barbara was born. She returned to work as Jacob Salt's secretary in 1966, then worked in sales for B. Altman & Co. and for Lord & Taylor in Paramus, N.J. (1967-1975). She worked briefly for the Ramsey school district.

An unassuming environmentalist, Anne stopped using insecticides in gardening, rode her bicycle or buses as transportation, picked up litter while walking, helped to prevent the extension of her quiet street, and personally instigated efforts to protect Ramsey's drinking and groundwater from pollution.

Anne demonstrated creativity in writing a bookkeeping program on an early computer, sewing clothes and other items and remodeling her home. She was creative and generous with gifts for family members, in sewing a wedding gown for her sister Ruth and clothes for grandchildren, and in preparing food for family reunions that she organized.

Anne regularly donated to the Ramsey Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Ramsey Volunteer Fire Department, Ramsey Volunteer Rescue Squad and several veterans' organizations. Finally, she cared for her husband Don throughout all stages of his Alzheimer's disease.

Her family wishes to acknowledge the loving care provided to Anne in her final years by Illini Heritage Rehab and Health Care, Champaign.
